About

Rebecca in a white dress on the railing of the Roberto Clemente Bridge as Jordan holds her hand

Meet Alex, your Pittsburgh wedding photographer

I'm the Pittsburgh wedding photographer behind Alex K. Studios. I photograph weddings, elopements, proposals and engagement sessions all over Western PA, plus families, seniors and graduates.

I started taking photos at the start of COVID. I wanted a hobby that got me out of the house without being a group activity. I began with landscapes, then realized I really enjoyed the art and wanted to keep getting better. Now here I am, turning that hobby into my business.

Alex K. Studios is the name of my business, not a building. There's no studio. Every session happens on location, somewhere that feels like you. That might be the skyline or one of the yellow bridges. It might be your favorite coffee shop, a garden, or a bench in the park with the dog.

When you write to me, I'm the one who writes back. I'm also the one who shows up with the camera, and the one who edits your photos afterward.

When I'm not shooting weddings, I like watching sports and walking around the city. I also enjoy traveling to different places with great views.

Hi, I'm Alex

If one of you hates having your photo taken, that's fine. I'll tell you where to stand, where your hands go and when to move closer. Then I step back and let you talk and laugh, so the real moments can happen.

I look for the light that flatters you both. Before the session, I'll help you pick the spot and plan what to wear.

The goal is simple. You should both look and feel like yourselves.

What it feels like in front of my camera

A wedding day goes fast. Before yours, we'll build the timeline together, so there's room for good light and real time with your people.

Some of the days I've photographed: Hannah and Shea said their vows at Church of the Ascension, with stained glass at the end of the aisle. Hailey and Stephen took their portraits on the Roberto Clemente Bridge with the downtown skyline behind them. Molly and Mike ended their night with a sparkler send-off.

The day after your wedding, you'll get a sneak peek: a few favorites to look at while I work on the rest. Your full gallery follows in 6–8 weeks.

My favorite part of the day? The dance floor. Who doesn't like a good time with fun music?

Weddings

As a Pittsburgh engagement photographer, I'll help you choose a place that feels like you, then guide you through the session. Rebecca and Jordan's session went from the Roberto Clemente Bridge to a lawn under the downtown skyline, then a string-lit street after dark.

I'm also a Pittsburgh proposal photographer. In Frick Park, Michael surprised Gabrielle by getting down on one knee. Their gallery goes on from there: a stone gateway, the ring up close, a kiss in the woods and a few frames with their dogs.

Planning one? We'll start with a call about your ideal proposal. While we talk, I look up the place you have in mind and suggest the best spots to drop down on one knee. You pick the one you like, and then I plan the best hiding spot for me.

Engagements and proposals

Not every wedding needs a big guest list. As a Pittsburgh elopement photographer, I give a small
day the same hand-edited, private gallery as a big one.

Alisson and Alexis eloped at the Allegheny County Courthouse. Their photos move from a stone staircase under the arches to a long arched hallway and the courtyard fountain, with their rings and a first dance along the way.

Their day is in my wedding portfolio, and elopement coverage is on Wedding Packages.

Elopements

I'm based in Pittsburgh and cover all of Western PA, from Butler and Erie down to Ohiopyle. A few places that have shown up in my galleries:

Roberto Clemente Bridge. Yellow steel, the riverwalk beside it and the city right behind you. Rebecca and Jordan's engagement and Hailey and Stephen's wedding portraits both happened here.

Church of the Ascension. Stone outside, stained glass inside. Hannah and Shea's ceremony.

Frick Park. Woods and a stone gateway. Michael's surprise proposal to Gabrielle.

Allegheny County Courthouse. Arches, staircases and a courtyard fountain. Alisson and Alexis's elopement.

My favorite place to photograph, though, is any downtown park where you can see the city.

Getting married farther away? I'm happy to travel.
